Betws y Coed North Wales
The beautiful village of Betws y Coed nestles in the valley of a natural junction where the rivers Llugwy, the Lledr and the Machnoand merge into the river Conwy to the east of Mount Snowdon.
Betws y Coed is the most popular resort within the Snowdonia National Park and visitors can instantly see why with its picture postcard looks and abundance of hotels and guest houses.
Visitors to the village can reach it easily via the A470 from the north or the A5 from the east and there is also a local train station connecting with the main north Wales line.
Woodland Walks
There are many pathways in and around Betws y Coed to walk along and to suit all levels of activity. One of the most popular routes takes you along the River Llugwy heading west. The area has recently being developed with wooden decking making it easier to follow along with plenty of stopping places beside the river to sit and relax.For the more adventurous you may wish to tackle some of the more challenging walks taking up into the hills that surround the village.
Fairy Glen
Just to the south of the village (approx 1½ miles) is the mystical and enchanting Fairy Glen. This natural gorge is on the river Conwy and is a must see if you plan to stay awhile. The area is a favourite with photographers and artists and it's easy to see why.The Village Centre
The centre of Betws y Coed is home to a large village green. Nearby are the local shops, many of which understandably serve the hill walking and outdoors community. The Betws y Coed train station is also within walking distance with a regular service to the north Wales mainline.Swallow Falls
Another natural attraction close to Betws y Coed is Swallow Falls which sits on the River Llugwy to the east of the village. Swallow Falls is famous as a scene of terrific natural beauty and is a series of cascading water falls.Car parking is available onsite and a gift shop sits opposite next to the Swallow Falls Hotel.
